Organic beef is produced without the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, antibiotics, and so forth.  That’s all good, of course, but be aware, that organic beef typically goes to the feedlot and are fed grain and other (organic) by-products. 

At the O X Ranch, we produce an animal that we believe to be “BETTER than organic!”   We do not supplement our grass-fed herd with grain so that the animals can retain their natural digestive processes throughout their entire lives.

Animal health is of utmost importance at the O X Ranch.  When an animal becomes sick, it is given antibiotics and no longer qualifies for the grass-fed program.  In 2007, we had only 1 out of 500 animals requiring antibiotics—and that animal was immediately removed from the program.
