You may purchase an O X Ranch 100% Grass-fed Beef for $2.10 per pound “live weight” plus the cost of processing. You may purchase a 1/4, 1/2, or whole animal. If you purchase a whole animal, you will receive a 10% discount. If you prefer to buy individual cuts of meat or our “Starter Pack”, you can contact The Meat Shop in downtown Phoenix at 602-258-5075. Call them ahead of time to make sure they have what you need or to put a “Starter Pack” on hold for you. The following example may be helpful. Assume a live weight of 1063 lbs: 1063 x $2.10/pound = 2232.30 10% discount (on whole animal) -223.23 2009.07 Processing Fee (the butcher/processor) * +450.00 Total approximate price 2459.00
The amount of meat coming from an animal varies in much the same way that some humans are slim and some are heavy. We have found a range of between 31% and 43% yield in processing our animals (i.e. meat vs. live weight). In the example above, about 36% of the 1063 lb animal become cuts of beef. This would result in approximately 383 lbs of meat at an average of $6.42 per pound. Average price per pound of meat: Only about $6.42 !!! * * Note that if you buy a 1/2 animal, or 1/4 animal, you would only incur 1/2 or 1/4 of the processing fee, respectively. Also, please note that this fee is passed straight through to the processor. Some animals are lighter, some are heavier, but the amount of work processing is basically the same. If you have a processor you would prefer to use, please let us know.

Although 100% grass-fed beef is much more expensive to produce, the O X Ranch is able to eliminate the large margin required by grocery stores. Grocery stores need to cover their costs of acquiring expensive land, building expensive supermarkets and paying property taxes, insurance, utility and labor costs.
